30 before 30

Life is crazy. Work is crazy. Such is the reason for my lack of blogging lately. With the holidays coming it may mean life will continue to be crazy but work SHOULD slow down. Thats the great thing about being a trainer, around the holidays everyone takes vacation so we can't have classes, so even if I'm not taking time off (which I'm not) it means I have a lot of down time. woohoo! Here is the post I started over a week ago...

Lately I have seen more about 30 before 30 lists. For those that maybe haven't, they are kinda like "bucket lists" except they are things you want to do before you are 30. I think I want to jump on the bandwagon and create one! My 27th birthday is in a little less than 2 months so I think its good time to get started. Here are some things I've thought of already to go on my list:
  1. Take a gourmet cooking class (everyone needs to know how to cooking one gourmet meal right?)
  2. Go for a hot air balloon ride
  3. Have a professional teach me how to put make-up on and tell me what colors are for my skin type, etc. (So I stop looking like a 12 year old who is playing with make-up)
  4. Ride/sleep in a train (I've been on a train about 1232874384 times but I want to sleep in a "sleeper car" and have a cocktail in the "bar car" like in Sex & the City)
  5. Go to Chicago
  6. Go for a ride in a helicopter
  7. Buy a house
  8. Get/stay credit card debt free (this one is a little boring but I am soooooo close)

Thats all I've got so far! Here where you all come in... what are some things you would want to do? That you've done and is really cool that I need to do? For instance I have gone skydiving before so that is not going on my list but if you've never been before, I urge you to go! Best.Time.Ever.

I can't wait to hear your suggestions! I'll post my list again when its finished!

What better way to spend 100

Today is my 100th post! What better way to spend it than by dedicating it to my favorite boys in pinstripes (besides Mr. Pro on our wedding day).

I'm probably going to get sued for copyright infringment but I pulled that picture off a site somewhere this morning and can't remember from where. This picture was my favorite because it had 3 of the "core four" or "fearsome foursome" as some would call them. Although I can't mention them and not dedicate a picture of my favorite... Andy Pettitte!

This one is curtosey of The Daily News

What a family man! (swoon)

Ahhh all four of the boys

THE YANKEE WIN! THE YANKEES WIN! THE YANKKKKKKKKEEEEESSSSS WIN!

Ps- Please don't hate on me in this post for being a Yankees fan. I am a born and raised New Yorker and been a fan forever. Yes, I know their payroll is the highest but right now I ask if you have nothing nice to say... come back tomorrow! :-)

Uninspired

At least Tebow dressed up for Halloween! I on the other hand, was trying to remember so many things for my friend's party that I ended up forgetting half of my costume. As in, all I had was accessories so it was pretty much and epic FAIL. I was going to be Batgirl, which was a repeat from a few years that I was ok with because A) I LOVE batman and B) It saved me $$$. Well, I forgot the whole body part of the costume so all I had was the accessories. Thank goodness I had brought random street clothes with me otherwise I would have had to wear my yoga pants. I tried to rock it the accessories anyway but then someone told me I looked like Sonya from Mortal Combat so I just went with it.

Lately I've been feeling pretty uninspired in the eating/workout area. I've pretty much been eating crap because it is easier then having to think about what healthy meal to cook and although I'm going to the gym I don't think I'm pushing myself like I used to. I think its because I've been so tired because work has been so busy but that is NO EXCUSE. I like to work our and push myself so I need to DO IT and I like to cook healthy meals because I LOVE the way I feel when I eat clean so I need to make the time. I'm also semi-afraid to get on the scale right now because I'm afraid in the past 2-3 weeks I've put on some lbs. I'm telling you all this not for a pity-party but so that I can hold myself accountable.

Now if you have any good HEALTHY recipes to send my way I'd be more then happy to give them a whirl!

Almost wordless Wednesday

Mr. Pro wanted to go out to dinner last night since we were both off work today. One of the benefits of living in Orlando is having plenty of fun places to go. We went down to Disney's Boardwalk. Dinner was just ok but dessert at the Swan and Dolphin hotel was delicious! Hey, I needed to make sure I didn't pass out again for my sugar being low right?!?!
A Shiba Inu at our local puppy store today. We didn't get her but when we get a 2nd dog this is the breed I want. They look like models!

my first 5k... and passing out

So this weekend was semi-relaxing. Friday I came home from work and passed out on the couch for about an hour and a half, made a sorry excuse for a dinner, watched a little tv with Mr. Pro and then went to bed since I was EXHAUSTED and had to get up at 5:50am for work at the golf course on Saturday.

Saturday I worked, passed out on the couch for about an hour and a half (notice a trend here) and then watched football and once again had to hold my breath for a Gator victory. Those boys really need to pull it together because my heart can't take all these close games!

Sunday I contemplated sleeping in and skipping my 5k, but Mr. Pro reminded me that I would be disappointed in myself if I didn't go and realizing he was right, I dragged my booty out of bed at 5:50am and met my gym friends to go run.

This was my first race EVER. I've played sports all my life but have never "run" before. It was a Susan G Komen Race for the Cure and a bunch of us were running it in honor of one of our gym buddies who was just diagnosed with Cancer over the summer. I kinda sorta trained, nothing formal but I did run on the tredmill for 2-3 miles a few times. I am proud to say I finished my first 5k in 31:05. That is by no means a fast time, but I didn't walk at all and it is the fastest I've ever fun that far so I'm kinda happy. My competitive side knows that for runners that is a terrible time and even though I don't consider myself even close to a runner I want to be as good as them. Did I mention I hate training which is why I'll never be a runner and never be as good as them? haha

So here's where things got interesting. I finished the race with a guy from my gym (he helped me finish strong and not walk) and afterwards we got water and bananas while we waited for everyone else to finish. We hung out and chit-chatted, etc. The plan was to go to breakfast by our houses so off we go back to the cars and on to breakfast. We order and everything is fine and dandy and then all of a sudden I feel really sick. The best way to describe it is I felt like I had a really bad hangover all of a sudden. I had cold sweats and just felt terrible. I tried to brush it off because truth be told I don't know these people too well. They are pretty much all in their 50's and although they hang out outside of the gym, I'm just a gym buddy since there is only a select few of us who choose to torture ourselves at 5:15am every weekday. So now I'm feeling worse and I don't know what to do. I think about going to the bathroom but I don't know what good that's going to do for me and I don't want to get up. I look across the table and I tell this woman Susan I don't feel well. She asks if I want to go to the bathroom and I say yes, and she asks if I want her to come and I say yes. I don't really know why I said this but I didn't know what to do. So we go into the bathroom and I try splashing cold water on my face but it doesn't help. Now I'm having cold sweats all over and don't know what to do. And then I go down. I passed out. Only for about 2 seconds and thankfully susan broke my fall the best she could but I did smack my head on the porcelin sink. As I'm sitting there she gets another woman and they get me some orange juice hoping its my sugar. I drink it and feel a bit better. After a few minutes I'm able to get up and go back to table.

So now I'm embarrassed because as I mentioned, I barely know these people. Now they think I'm this high maintenance girl who passes out! And further more... why the heck did I pass out?!?!? I consider myself fairly athletic. I've played soccer all my life which is running outside, I ate something after the race (a banana), and I drank plenty of water.

Did I mention my dad is a Diabetic? I'm thinking now is a good time to call my doctor and schedule a physical with some bloodwork.

How to make your husband love you

I love to cook but am not an overly creative chef... probably because Mr. Pro and I are both picky eaters so there are about 5 food items total we both eat. One of them is chicken. I can grill it, bake it, or saute it. One thing I never did was fry it. I would love to sit here and type that I am not a big fan of fried food but that would be a big fat lie! I love me some french fries and chicken tenders but I know its not the healthiest thing out there so I don't really cook them.

Mr. Pro wanted to put a deep fryer on our registry. He picked out the Presto 5442 Deep Fryer, CoolDaddy and I said sure because it wasn't too expensive but I figured we would use it maybe twice a year. Boy was I WRONG! We use this bad boy once a week, either on Saturday or Sunday watching football. My specialty... Parmesan garlic chicken wings. These bad boys are delicious. I have made them for Mr. Pro, my dad, Mr. Pro's parents, brother, Aunt and Uncle and cousins. And because I love you all, I am passing the easiest recipe along to you.

SLJ's Super Simple Parmesan garlic chicken wings:

Package of fresh drumettes or wingettes (there are about 10 wing per package)
Garlic Salt
Garlic powder
Grated parmesan cheese

1. Heat oil (in fry daddy or pan)
2. Remove wings from package
3. Cover wings in garlic powder
4. Cover wings in garlic salt
5. Fry for 6-7 mins
6. Remove from fryer and sprinkle parmesan cheese over wings til your heart's delight!
7. EAT

This fryer has the easiest clean-up ever. The cover keeps oil from spraying everywhere, and when your done, the container comes out so you can dump the oil (we save the containers and just pour the oil back into the empty container), and then clean in the sink. It holds about 6 wings in the basket at one time.

Baking inspiration

My weekend was fabulous! I started it out right at happy hour with some of my oldest friends here in O-town and ended the night watching the Yankees win. Saturday I worked at the golf course and then tried to relax watching the Gator game until my dad came into town to go to the UCF vs UM (Miami) game. Well the Gators has another thing in mind, making me have anxiety with all the fumbles! It a good thing my personal favorite, Joe Haden had an amazing game otherwise disaster might have happened... I don't even want to think what kind of mood Mr. Pro would have been in had they lost!! Thankfully they pulled off the victory just as we were pulling up to the UCF game. The game was fun, but COLD for Central Florida!

Sunday the three of us got up early to play golf. Once again it was COLD but I bundled up and survived. No joke I had on about 4 layers, and then a scarf and hat! Turns out I had one too many layers on and it effected my swing... yea that's the excuse I'm gonna go with! We had fun and then I made us all homemade wings. Turns out the secret to a man's heart is chicken wings... I'll even share my rediculously easy recipe with you all!

There are no pictures because my camera officially stinks and I refuse to use it or take pictures until I get a new one. I don't have time reduce red eye and everything for every.single.picture.

I am in the mood to bake. I have a killer chocolate chip cookie recipe and a double chocolate chip cookie recipe from my handy Kitchenaide mixer recipe book that came with my mixer but I want to do something different... HELP! Share your secret recipe with me, link me to your favorite recipe or book, anything! Mr. Pro likes sugar cookies so if you have a recipe for them he would be especially thankful, and I love peanut butter so cookies/cupcakes/spoon in my mouth it doesn't matter and I will love it!
Who knows, maybe I'll even share with a lucky reader or two if I get some good new recipes!
